Why a Record From an Earlier Step May Not Appear in Your TexAu Workflow

When building a workflow in TexAu, it’s common to pass data from one step to another. But sometimes, a record that was expected from an earlier step doesn't show up in the following step.

Here’s why that happens and how you can fix it.

Common Reasons a Record is not Found

    1. The Previous Step Didn’t Return Any Result

If the earlier step didn't produce output (e.g., due to invalid input or platform restrictions), there’s no data to forward. Check the logs of that step to confirm whether it processed the record successfully.

    2. The Step Was Skipped for Some Rows

TexAu workflows often process records in rows. If a specific row failed or was skipped in the earlier step, the next step won’t receive it. Use the “View Logs” option to see which rows were processed or marked as failed.

    3. Filters or Conditions Were Applied

If you've added any filters, conditions, or router steps, they might have excluded certain rows. Check the workflow structure and see if a condition blocked the data flow.

    4. The Step is Using the Wrong Input Mapping

Sometimes, input fields in the next step are mapped incorrectly. Ensure that the step is referencing the correct column or field from the earlier step.

    5. Output Was Not Stored Properly

In some cases, the output from a step is not saved if the action didn’t run or if there was a network issue. Re-run the workflow with test data and check whether the expected output file was generated.

    How to Troubleshoot

    • Use the "View Logs" option on each step to trace the record flow.
    • Check which rows were processed, skipped, or failed.
    • Confirm if the next step is linked to the correct data column.
    • Run the workflow with a small sample to isolate the issue.

    When to Use Manual Debugging

If the issue persists, remove the step temporarily and test each block separately. You can also add temporary delays between steps to give time for each action to complete, especially in the case of cloud actions.
